Margate For A Wintery Seaside Staycation!

Some of you may already know that I spent many a childhood summer on the beaches of Margate and Broadstairs, and that as an adult I now take any opportunity I'm given to go back. With family living in the area, such opportunities are not hard to come by (or fabricate).

Summer In Jersey - Channel Islands

We arrived in Jersey to grey skies and rain, needless to say I was not impressed, and it certainly wasn't what I ordered!

Boohoo Poor Me

First of all I should begin by apologising. If the title of the post didn't tip you off, this is a bit of a moan-y post

Brunch, Wine and Dirty Burger... The Perfect Day!

It's actually quite rare that I venture into Central London and since I live so close, I have started thinking I need to start taking advantage of the ease with which I can get into town and experience all that London has to offer. And by this I mean food, obviously!

7 Happy Days

In case there isn't enough 'what has made me happy' posts out there on the internet, I decided that it's far too easy to focus on the shitty stuff that is going on, and maybe each week I need to focus on one thing a day, no matter how small, that has made me smile. So here goes, my 7 happy things over 7 days.

Blue Eyed Girl

I get my love of gin from my sister. I'd visit her in the evenings and I would be offered tea, coffee or G&T.

AA: Adults Anonymous

Over the last couple of weeks I have had an eternal crick in my neck, which I think is down to having really rubbish pillows, or a terrible mattress which I keep putting off replacing because I'd really rather spend the money on something else. I  was given a £50 John Lewis voucher the other day and couldn't contain my excitement that I could use it to buy some lovely new feather pillows to hopefully ease the crick in my neck... This excitement was swiftly followed by horror at my sudden and inexplicable ailment... Adulthood.

Margate Gen-Do!! i.e. My Sister's Hen Do in Margate!

At present I have set myself up on my little patio watching our resident robin hop about around my feet and sipping coffee from my enamel espresso mug from my hen do goody bag! I am in complete disbelief that in 2 days I fly to Guernsey for my sisters wedding!! It has come around so fast and I'm still struggling to believe that the hen do is over. So much so that I'm feeling a little cheated, I think perhaps we all need to have a post wedding hen-do and go back to Margate and do it all over again!

Two's Company

Ciarán has been back home in Ireland for a whole week, and as much as I have enjoyed having a double bed all to myself it sure has been lonely in the flat! Watching crap TV isn't quite the same when there's not anyone there to openly judge your choice in programmes.

So I'm sure you can understand that I have been thrilled to have him back this weekend. I went to pick him up from the airport and have been a bit of a limpet since he arrived home. However, it was a bit of a shock to the system last night when I went to roll to what should have been the cool side of the bed and found a Ciarán sized barrier in my way. Still I'll happily give up having a cool side of the bed as long as it means Sunday morning cuddles and coffee brought to me in bed!

(He's also much better at looking after the plants than me!)

On The Struggle Bus to Hangover Town

I have had a first class ticket on board the struggle bus today. A works drinks thing that should have been just a couple became a lot of drinks and a very late night. This when you have work the next morning is not a smart thing to do, which at 25 you would think I already knew. In fact I did know and for reasons my sober self cannot fathom I chose to stay out regardless, unfortunately I have to accept that this was my choice, and I have no one else to blame but myself. As much as I would love to hold someone else responsible for feeling genuine fear that I might vomit on unsuspecting commuters on the way to work, I can't.

Day Dreaming About Summer

The sun is starting to show it's face again, and for the first time this year I didn't need my coat with me today. As summer approaches, I am starting to get excited about getting our tent out of storage and heading into the countryside to spend the evening wrapped in blankets around a little camp fire.

Easy Peasy Mac and Cheesey

This is probably the easiest Mac and Cheese you will ever make!

I pair creme fraiche with everything; dessert (especially warm pie), soup, pasta sauce, lasagne and being super lazy use it instead of white sauce for Mac and Cheese. This seriously speeds up the macaroni and cheese making process. It also plays a pretty large part in my potentially fat future, but I digress.

MEEP... That's half way to 50, as my boss so helpfully pointed out!

Regardless of being half way to 50, I had a wonderful celebration on the Saturday!
